The RNLI Lifeguards, with their mobile station, are now situated at the sea front for the period of the school summer holidays, and are very welcome.
They are very visible and proactive and have been encouraging swimmers and surfers to behave responsibly and to have a better understanding of the nature of the sea. In addition, they have been reminding visitors to the beach about the dogs rule (right hand side of the beach only) which helps protect the Blue Flag status. The Lifeguards are also offering brightly coloured wristbands which contain not only the number of the coastguards but space to put a personal mobile phone contact number, with the intention of using the bands on children to keep them safe should they wander off.
