The meeting opened with the President, Mrs Dorothy Cops, in the chair. Business concluded Mrs Cops introduced the speaker for the evening, who was Frances Miller from the RSPCA.

This was a very interesting talk, outiliming the aims of the society. We were surprised to learn that the individual branches received no funding from Head Office. The branches have to do all their own fundraising. The Health and re-homingof animals is all important, but before this can happen, each animal has to have a complete clean bill of health and they are neutered and microchipped with their new owners details. Help can sometimes be given towards vet bills. If the new owner is elderly, they can be reassured that if anything happens to them, their pets will go back to the society to be cared for, thus giving peace of mind to the owner. At the end of her talk, Mrs Miller was thanked by Pat Foley. Rhe Raffle was won by Irene Dansie.

The next meeting will be held on the 24th September, 2009. The Speaker will be Megan Richards and her subject will be on Wine Making. New Members Welcome.
