There’s no excuse now not to have your five a day of fruit and veg – thanks to a new iniative launched in Aberporth last week.
The village is the first community in Ceredigion to offer a local food co-operative.
Every Tuesday orders for fresh fruit, veg or salad at wholesale prices of just £3 a bag will be taken at the country market in the village hall.
The Welsh Assembly-backed scheme has been spearheaded by the local community council.
Launching the scheme council chairman Cllr Mike Rennolf said it was a way of providing fresh produce.
"This scheme is open to everyone in the wider local community, not just people living in the village," he said.
"I look forward to seeing it develop."
Advice agencies such as CAB, Credcer, the local police and Age Concern will also be manning stalls on a regular basis at the country market along with a representative from the community council.
Volunteers are needed to help run the scheme – contact local community councillor Jann Tucker on 01239 810387.
