‘Upstairs, Downstairs’ was the theme of the floral demonstration recently in the Village Hall by Mrs Beryl Griffiths an area demonstrator and teacher.

The appreciative audience of Flower Club member, from local clubs and friends were delighted by the easy manner and attractive personality of Mrs Griffiths.

Her designs took us on a tour of the farmyard, dairy, kitchen, drawing-room and terrace to the bottom of the garden.

A natural design of sunflowers and foliage within a large tree rests in the farmyard, followed by a display of myriad colours and flowers, depicting a Dutch still-life in the drawing-room. In the dairy, cream and white flowers were placed on an antique yoke.

A striking modern design of orange gerberas in a large wicker vase stood on the terrace, whilst a blue and white meat plate formed the background of the kitchen arrangement of blue, white and purple with flashes of pink and red. Finally we were taken to the bottom of the garden amongst the ferns and foliage. A ripple of pleasure and amusement greeted the final placement of two fairies sitting on toadstools.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening of anecdotes and flowers. Raffle prize winners carried away armsful of blooms!

New members are always welcome. The club meets on alternative Fridays (except August).
