Hello Tivy-Side Folks,

My name is Kay McAnally and I just wrote a message to the family of Bernard Thomas, King of the Coracles, via this message board. I'm afraid I may have pushed the "send" button before I was ready for the message to go.

I had meant to ask if you would be kind enough to pass the message on to Bernard Thomas's family as I have no way of getting in touch with them. Thank you, in advance, for taking the time to do that.

Also,. thank you for running the obituary - my cousin who lives in Virginia in the USA reads each edition of your paper from cover to cover and so was able to pass on the sad news to me.

Thirdly, if you would write the tag line "Bastrop, Texas", after my name on the message to the family, I would appreciate it. I would like them to know that Bernard Thomas affected the lives of people all over the world.

My last favor: could you add, under my name, that I am sending my message from Bastrop, Texas, USA.

Thank you!

Kay McAnally

In the 67 years I've been on the planet I can recall only a handful of people who made as much of an impression on my life as did Bernard Thomas, King of the Coracles. As a child I met a veteran of the US Confederacy who told me stories of enlisting and fighting for his country at the age of 12. When I was a teenager I met a 107 year old black woman who was born into slavery in Louisianna and who spoke to me of prejudice and inequality. When I was in my 60's I met Bernard Thomas who spoke to me of his pride in being Welsh, a Teifi Riverman and his service to his country . I spent only one day with Bernard, but learned a lifetime of lessons. Knowing him was a highlight of my life and I am grateful for every hour spent in his company. My sympathy is with his daughter Val and other family members who mourn the loss of a very special man. Kay McAnally
